Holly Valley (Waltzing Matilda) / Weeee (It’s Time) – New double single from Joyalai, premiere now

New Joyalai’s double single: Holly Valley (Waltzing Matilda) / Weeee (It’s Time)

Holly Valley is Al James’ very particular version and adaptation of Waltzing Matilda, Australia’s very popular unofficial anthem, originally composed by «Banjo» Paterson. This first cut of Joyalai’s new double single also pays tribute and nods to My Secret Valley (another famous version of Waltzing Matilda), which many will remember from the children’s television series of the same name in the 80s.

Thus, Holly Valley, an intense and epic Indie Folk Rock that presents a more fortunate and empowering twist on the traditional lyrics of Waltzing Matilda, but remaining quite faithful to it and also to its subtle humor, which becomes more evident in this Joyalai’s version.

As for the second cut, Weeee (It’s Time), original composition by Al James, continues the celebratory atmosphere of the previous song, from a more intimate and (also sassy) calm angle, which nevertheless gains in intensity until reaching the climax reflected in the tittle. For the rest, this tune is a (Indie Folk Rock too) ballad that shows more the vocal artistry by Alice Parky, as well as the beautiful vocal harmonies and choruses alongside Allen Lightened.

One jolly swagman walking by a billabong,
sat at the shade of a coolibah tree,
then he sang and waited ‘til his billy boiled
«True people share Holly Valley with me».
I love a valley, a jolly valley,
my holly valley where all can be free.
Then he sang and waited ‘til his billy boiled
«True people share Holly Valley with me».
Down came a jumbuck to drink at the billabong,
Up jumped the swagman to grab him with glee,
being the same sheep the squatter stole from him,
«You’ll gonna share Holly Valley with me»
I love a valley, mmm jolly valley,
my holly valley where all can be free,
singing as he stowed that jumbuck in his tucker bag,
«You’ll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me».
Up rode the squatter, mounted on his thoroughbred,
Down came the troopers, one, two, three,
asking «Where’s that jumbuck you’ve got in your tucker bag?»
«You’ll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me».
Up jumped the swagman, leapt into the billabong,
«You’ll never catch me alive,» said he,
crossed the waters as the bullets whistled on,
getting away with the sheep after him.
I love a valley, a jolly valley,
my holly valley where all can be free.
Feel this vibe now, as I sing to you this song:
«True people share Holly Valley with me».

It’s time to feel love
and joy like I never felt before.
It’s time for all blessing
meant for me to cheer up my world.
Cos my heart is beating
I know I belong
here and now.
Yeah i’m worth of living
the bliss that I am.
Meanwhile my gaze softens
I’m able to love myself and all,
then tasting the present
that is here and now.
It’s time to feel love
and fun like I never knew before.
Time also for bed
and not precisely only to sleep.

Not Drama But Love – New single from Joyalai, premiere now

New Joyalai’s single: Not Drama But Love

Joyalai’s new single salutes 2024 with a high emotional octane ballad, a hymn in line with Unbounded, for Not Drama But Love is about self-esteem and setting the due boundaries in the context of healthy relationships, in which one acts in a clear, proactive or assertive way from the very beginning.

Reflecting all that, a more intimate and tender -not necessarily fragil- aspect can be heard on Alice’s voice in this tune, in contrast with some other powerful phases. Also highlights thrilling beautiful choruses and vocal harmonies, by Allen and Alice herself.

As for genre or style and instrumental arrangements, this original song from Al James (music and lyrics) softly gathers Blues, Jazz, Cosmic American Music and Merseysound aromas within the current, alternative, rooted, folky and indie spirit that is natural in Joyalai’s music.

JOYALAI – The first EP from Joyalai, premiere now

Six songs for the first Joyalai’s big meaow

Joyalai’s first EP is tittled like the band itself, featuring six songs, which are: We Still Love, Lollyfish (both new releases), No One Does Anything, Unbounded, Fine On My Own and Paradox (all these released as singles in the recent months). November 22th is the premiere day with the full launch being december the fouth.

The two new songs are different -and non common- takes on the everlasting theme of relationships, here seasoned with witty, salty and somehow deep lyrics, pointing beyond the inmediate thing, as usual in Joyalai’s tunes. We Still Love is an intense half-fast tempo, gathering echoes from other eras, both in vocals and instrumentals, within a vibrant current spirit that transcend fashions (aka timeless or clasic). The second cut, Lollyfish, is a sea ballad that brings to the table a bold approach sweetly packed in very warm and luminous sound, through a thrilling soloist vocal performing. The beauty of harmonies and choruses is indeed remarcable in both songs, which will be also soon published as a double single.

Joyalai-EPpromo2023

This album is the band’s letter of introduction in the indie music scene. Joyalai is an Indie/Alternative band based on Earth, as they say. Versatile and inventive within the wide spectrum of Rock genres, their music features remarkable melodic, harmonic and rooted (regarding the roots of Rock) qualities to it. Anyway, we could say that Joyalai broadly sounds kind of Indie Rock-Folk or, perhaps better said, of a southern and folky Alt Pop-Rock.

With the peculiarity (among others) to appear as feline avatars in their promo pictures, Joyalai are Alice Parky, Allen Lightened (both on lead vocals, chorus, harmonies) and Al James (composer, lyricist, loops editor, productor, frontman and what not), the only human on board.

Unbounded – New single from Joyalai, premiere now

New Joyalai’s single: Unbounded

Joyalai’s new single, in advance of an upcoming first EP, is a heartfelt and honest ballad that touches the chords of acceptance and affirmation of oneself just as one is.

As an unapologetic allegation for one’s own authenticity (included the musical one), regardless of outside expectations or pressures of all kinds, Unbounded exudes assertiveness and self-empowerment in its lyrics, while in its music it distills clear and intense southern flavors of Cosmic American Music, Indie Folk Rock, Psyfolk, Alt-Country and Roots Rock.

Alice Parky’s voice shines showing here new registers and colors, with the velvety and exuberant support of the vocal harmonies by Allen Lightened, all of which turns this original song -composed, written and produced by Al James- into a new anthem of the band.

Official Video of «No One Does Anything», from Joyalai, together with the double single release today

No One Does Anything – Joyalai. Official Video subtitled

Joyalai’s second double single begins with No One Does Anything, a lively alt-pop-rock style mid-tempo, where raspy guitars with a southern air are the counterpoint to the game of voices over very suggestive lyrics, as cryptic as they are explicit, about the nature of reality.
Alice Parky sings lead and Allen Lightened does the harmonies on this song composed, written, and produced by Al James. The official video has been published on YouTube today september 18, coinciding with the official launch of this second double single.

Nuevo sencillo doble de Joyalai: No One Does Anything / Fine On My Own. De estreno ahora

Nuevo doble-sencillo de Joyalai: No One Does Anything / Fine On My Own.

No One Does Anything / Fine On My Own – New double single from Joyalai, premiere now

New Joyalai’s double single: No One Does Anything / Fine On My Own

Joyalai’s second double single begins with No One Does Anything, a lively alt-pop-rock style mid-tempo, where raspy guitars with a southern air are the counterpoint to the game of voices over very suggestive lyrics, as cryptic as they are explicit, about the nature of reality.
For its part, Fine On My Own closes the disk in a more sentimental or romantic tone, but no less substantial and unpredictable, concentrating great emotional and meaningful octane in just one minute and forty-six seconds, through a refreshing and exciting merseysound style.
Alice Parky and Allen Lightened swap lead vocals and harmonies on this release, with both songs composed, written, and produced by Al James. The official launch will be on this september 18.

PARADOX / CYN SONG, double debut single from JOYALAI, plus Official Video of Paradox, now released

Paradox, paradox.
Paradox, paradox.
My whole world
can be seen as a puzzle.
The only way
to fit in it well
is being myself.
No one else I can be.
Paradox, paradox.
Paradox, paradox.
If you should join me
in this adventure,
then all you got to do
is being yourself.
And that just
equals feeling good.
Yeah.
(I tune in what I live)
(the all is the one)
(I tune in what I live)
(the one is the all).
Paradox, paradox, yeah.
So once you felt your
dream in your heart,
you have to let it go,
while you keep on glad
and that takes care of all.

Joyalai’s double debut single: PARADOX / CYN SONG

Joyalai is an Indie/Alternative band based on Earth, as they say. Anyway, we could say that Joyalai broadly sounds kind of Indie Rock-Folk or, perhaps better said, of a southern and folky Alt Pop-Rock.

A double single is their first musical statement, in midsummer of 2023. Paradox, the A-side, surprises the ear alterning and combining styles, rythms and tempos with ease and in a fine fashion, suporting sugestive and meaningful lryrics sung charmly; while the flip-side, Cyn Song is a heartfelt homage or remembrance, a thrilling love ballad in a colorful, tender and warm alt-doowop style with a merseysound vibe.
