Here comes the Sunshine – Beev Rations’ New Single, Released!

Here comes the Sunshine: Life and Love in the big woods

Spreading warm, bright and FREE vibes as the sunlight

It can’t be really classified or labeled in a certain category or put inside a musical genre or style, but it’s magical, outrageous, beautiful, touching, balsamic and inspiring. That’s the badge of Beev Rations music. This time Alan James craft his new work of sound upon the fresh, natural and meaningful words written by a fine english lyricist called Kenneth Mood.

Combining and fusing styles and esences as varied and diverse as folk, symphonic rock, ambient, doo-wop, soft rock, psychedelia, mersey sound, melodic pop or new era, Here comes the sunshine -lets say- “springs cleanly like a mountain spring in spring”, moving rhythmically and majestically through magical corners, changes of rhythm and unexpected turns, which keep the listener in suspense from beginning to end.

sunshine2018-BR

With a careful and elaborate production -doing a rightly use of sonic resources and effects-, the combination of exuberance, harmony, elegance, intensity, and yet simplicity, of this theme can be appreciated in the instrumental arrangements as well as in the voices and the very structure of the song, composing a whole hymn to a natural healthy life, lived from love, which manifests spontaneous at the same time that serene and transcendent.

It’s precisaly this feeling, brought along with the very nature of this colaboration between Kenneth Mood and Beev Rations, that makes this record avalaible for everybody at zero cost, being free-to-download in platforms like SoundCloud or Reverbnation. With the full release, in mid-May, you also have it free in Bandcamp.

Finally, all the nuances and values of the song are very well reflected in the video, indeed a nice and simple -but effective- one, whose suggestive, bucolic and evocative game of images and scenes fully accompanies the instrumental band, making it even more memorable (and yes, you can expect that peculiar humor touch from Alan James). So, we find some good reasons to spread these beautiful vibes and make them viral.

REVIEWS

“This song is very soothing and relaxing and the strings sounds so melodious. I need this in my life. What is the name of the band? E-mail me so I can pick up some of these song. Thanks”.

“I think the singer has a really nice relaxing voice. The song is very chill. The lyrics are well written and I feel that the sound quality is really well produced. I really like this”.

“Overall, I love the elements that this song brings. I love the passion that is displayed from the very beginning, and never strays. And I love how modern the song feels”.

“Wow, that was upbeat! A nice 70s style relaxed song of praise and worship. That is a good sound quality that has been quite lost to me”.

Here comes the Sunshine

(K. Mood – A. Amarante)

I trust in love
I see the leaves
I say your name
I feel the breeze.

We are going together
To share the day.
We are just friends
Our love is okay.

Here comes the sunshine
It makes me good.
I go out walking
In the big woods.

Travel in the mind,
in a aeroplane.
Stay by me always
In sunshine and rain.

My dreams are burning,
I am buying food
For our lovely picnic
In the big woods.

I drink the wine
I eat the food
I dream and smile
I am no fool

Here comes the sunshine
It makes me good.
I go out walking
In the big woods.

BEEV RATIONS – ‘Mystic Lover’. By Barry Gruff

artworks-000291382026-xwvgs9-original

Based in Santander, Northern Spain, Beev Rations is the musical alter-ego of Alan James, a songwriter, singer and multi-instrumentalist, with a loving flair for psych-tinged, country & western flavoured folk jams.

Beev Rations introduced his wonderful wares with single ‘The Bigger Tricker’ – which as far as introductions go, you couldn’t ask for more. James’ latest ‘Mystic Lover’ is similarly lovable and in under two minutes, it waltzing its way into your heart with an old-word charm and rootsy blend of Doo Wop, Blues and Country. Filled with warmth, the vocals (and indeed the song itself) swoons with joy as the clip-clop percussion meanders through Everly Brothers-esque heavenly harmonies as guitars twang, shimmer and sparkle. There is something extremely familiar but different and original, brought no doubt by James’ unique and peculiar touch.

‘Mystic Lover’ is warm, charming and hard to resist – an incredibly heartfelt bundle of joy!

You can listen to ‘Mystic Lovers’ below now & if that is to your liking, there’s plenty more where that came from, over here.

Mystic Lover – Beev Rations’ New Single, Released!

MYSTIC LOVER: Feel the ECSTASY with BEEV RATIONS

Beev Rations bring us this brilliant and mysterious gem called Mystic Lover, wich is a stunning and touching blend of genuine rootsrock styles, as Doo Wop, Blues and Country (this two mostly in the second half of the song). And always with that original, current and peculiar touch of Alan James, who creates such magic and beauty all through the barely two minutes of this atmospheric, delightful and unique theme.

Specially here in Mystic Lover, the subtle and the mundane, human and divine, sacred and profane, are all aspects of the very same thing, from the Alan James point of view. No need to say that he is pleased to play again with this in a natural, playful and sincere way, as he use to.

Fun and sadness, joy and pain, love and humor, are maybe sides of the same coin too… as in this song. So take it easy, put yourself comfortable, swicht off the lights and enjoy this mystic musical experience. You are free to fly….

Mystic Lover

In the shrine on my own,
I say a prayer with love…
I adore you,
I’m so devoted to you.
I’ll follow your path,
your love is all
I’ve ever had.
I build a church
where you
will be my saint,
but no one shall pass
cos I’m the one
to be at your side.
Something in the middle of your body,
trembling on the glowing of your skin
is now atraccting me to you so badly
I became a mystic
for your love.

BEEV RATIONS – ‘THE BIGGER TRICKER’. By Barry Gruff

As far as introductions go, you couldn’t ask for more from recent single ‘The Bigger Tricker’. A kaleidoscopic musical mosaic, it serves up a rather special brew of psych flavoured country & americana, rootsy folk and just a lot of off-kilter magic as it clip-clops along its merry way, like many a pioneer heading west out upon the plains. It’s warm, sunkissed and a wee bit weird but most importantly it is incredibly infectious and a joyous listen.

REVIEWS:

“I really liked the twang of this song right away. The sound of the vocals was interesting and for some reason made me think of a UFO or alien themed tv show. The name mushrooms was very fitting for the vibe of this song. Very interesting song structure – unique all around”.

“The vocals are rich and attractive. The melody is fun and interesting. The lyrics are amusing and cute. The instrumentals are rhythmic and engaging. And the sound and production quality is clear and crisp. Overall I like this song”.

“I like the melody of the song because it reminds me of a quiet summers day. I like the feelings this song evokes, it is full of emotion and the lyrics are interesting to listen to. The singer has a nice voice and has a good grasp of the melody and a lot of range. I like the guitar rhythm and the piano and strings”.

“The background music with electric guitar and light drums taps are nice. The male vocals are clear. The background “Doo Wop” works in this song. The lyrics were well written and well performed”.

“I like the loudness of the instrumentals in this song and I like the vibration of the vocal pitch in this song because it is creative and easy to listen to. Also I like the continuation of the lyrics in the song”.

“This song just seemed silly. I did not like the vocal. I did not like the instrumentation. It did not sound well produced. The lyrics were not good. I really can’t think of anything I liked about this song”. [note from Alan: I think this review is also interesting and fun!! :D]

“The haunting vocals and the interesting lyrics keeps the listener fully engaged in the song. The nuanced instrumentals with the percussion and twanging guitar keep the attention of the audience”.

“I liked the paychadelic and funky sound of the song. I liked the singing and felt it was very unique. I liked that the song sounded like it was out there far out”.

“This song is so fresh and vintage at the same time. I liked the drum section of the music. The song was well produced. I thought the song also could be Hawaiian sounded”.

MUSHROOMS, The new single from Beev Rations, releases in January, 2018

Mushrooms

Mushrooms,
they came out of the green,
from one day to another
and here they are.
Here they are.
Nobody called them,
but it is just the same.
Mushrooms have appeared (came on you)
in their own place
in the park.
They couldn’t appear in the sand.
Nobody saw them on the water.
They’re only waiting for right conditions
to come alive on your green.
So if you gotta let them grow within you,
let it be the mushroom of love,
the mushroom of love,
the mushroom of love,
eat the mushroom of love.
Nice mushroom?
Tasty mushroom?
Come on.
Come on.

Good Wood: “A smooth and calming intro that leads to a vocalist who performs with a lot of passion and feeling put into the lyrics which are well composed and tell a good story”.

Why don’t you?: “This is a really solid blues song. I really like the croning in this song. The song has a really strong blues vibe that you don’t hear a lot nowadays, but it was really authentic. I really like the vocals and the instrumentals a lot in this song”.

The Bigger Tricker: “This song is very interesting because it’s so different from everything else. It’s very difficult to categorize because it has so many different influences and covers so many genres. It sounds both modern and like classic songs. It’s very timeless and unique”.

Then, you can call it Alt Country if you want it, or simply Indie in pure state.
Anyway, have a good sonorous voyage, enjoy also the pics and keep an eye on the signs… you never know when this man is saying much more than what you could figure out at a first glance!!

THE BIGGER TRICKER, The new single from Beev Rations, now released and avalaible in Bandcamp.

Many of you

but I play the biggest trick.
Call me the bigger tricker,
call me the biggest tricker.
Call me, cos I know
that I am the only one.

REVIEWS:

“This song is very interesting because it’s so different from everything else. It’s very difficult to categorize because it has so many different influences and covers so many genres. It sounds both modern and like classic songs. It’s very timeless and unique”.

“I thought the lyrics were beautiful and I thought the music was spectacular. It was happy and it was mellow and it was relaxing. Everything about this song came together really well.”

“I like the clarity of the vocals. I like the tempo. I like how well the percussion maintains the tempo. I like the background instrumental performance and how well it complements the vocals. I like that the lyrics tell a complex story”.

“I really like this song a lot especially for its creativity and unique qualities in its intro and overall instrumentation and vocal performance. This song has a simple sound that just really works well”.

WHY DON’T YOU? – BEEV RATIONS’ NEW SINGLE, PUBLISHED!

This is an original and powerfull blend of Blues, Country and Mersey sound, with the special, thrilling, vocal treatment from Alan James. It can be also framed in styles as neoclassic rock, roots rock or simply indie. Guitars, played by Alan too, give the perfect counterpoint to the melody.

REVIEWS:

“This is a really solid blues song. I really like the croning in this song. The song has a really strong blues vibe that you don’t hear a lot nowadays, but it was really authentic. I really like the vocals and the instrumentals a lot in this song”.

“This is a very melancholy blues song. The harmonies are fantastic. The tone is slow and somber but the guitars and metallic and lonesome. This band knos exactly what they’re doing with the bottleneck slide”.

“The voice has that old fashioned sound, and the instruments are a bit retro. Good lyrics that I can easily understand. All elements are perfectly suited for each other”.

“This guy is the second coming of bob dylan hands down. I could see listening to this song in a quiet little bar in the mountains. Just me and a few friends all playing a hand of cards.”

“Melted Love (unreleased demo)”, a new BEEV RATIONS’ surprise

Come to the beach with BEEV RATIONS and enjoy this new and salty song:

“Melted Love (unreleased demo)”

A new surprise from Beev Rations to its beloved followers, this is a little demo of the original song called “Melted love”.

Take a walk with Alan James by a beautiful beach of El Sardinero (Santander, Cantabria, Spain), in full spring, while you listen to an evocative, cadentious and (of course) salty tune, sung with the charming and thrilling style of the band’s vocalist, instrumentist and composer.

Although you’ll go near the sea, you won’t get wet… or, well, I don’t know… 😀

Melted Love (unreleased demo)

Mary, Mary,
is it too late for me to marry you?
Longing lonely,
could I prevent it by loving you?

I swear it’s nothing wrong
or nothing right,
in wanting giving you love all night
and melt together being one.

GOOD WOOD – Beev Rations’ third single, released!

Beev Rations’ new single:

GOOD WOOD

Avalaible in Bandcamp and CD Baby

Good wood is the new and original song by Beev Rations. Being their third single, will be released in April, along with the official video.

Like the music of this indie band -in general terms-, this song can be framed in the styles of neoclassic rock, roots rock or simply indie. More concretely, it is a kind of mixture of melodic pop-rock, alternative folk/country, blues and standard, beaming the aroma of the 50s-60s, this time bringing that special -as subtle as sassy- humoristic touch from Alan James, right there where you least expected it.

Lead voice here, in its smooth, temperate and warm mode, is catchy aswell as expressive and suggestive, with the just point of rascality that fits very well with the naughty lyrics this peculiar story shows, through unexpected turns that even reach (and touch) the surreal and hiperbolic.

The well-orchestrated and colorful combo formed by acustic guitars, bass and drums, sounds evocative and raptured from the beginning and comes to shine especially in certain ecstatic passages edged by the placid notes of an ethereal (stratospheric on the solo part) lead guitar.

So turn up the volume and sure you’re gonna feel something (don’t know what or how) about this!

Full release will come in the coming weeks, along with the official video in YouTube. Also, this record will be available for digital download.

 Lyrics:

When the sky is blue

the birds are singing,

the roses leave their smell

as we make it well.

To everywhere I go

the beings are being

and so we’ll love as long as

this bed hold on.

Then put your hand right here

and I will put mine there,

There’s nothing

that we could not reach

while I am over you

or you over me.

A day will come

when we’re just married,

we’ll call a carpenter there,

to mend our bed.

Hot burrito #1 (I’m your toy) – BEEV RATIONS’ second single released!

cover-picture-hot-burrito-1-beev-rations

Beev Rations’ new single:

“Hot burrito #1 (I’m your toy)”

Avalaible for digital download all world wide. Official video published in YouTube.

The second single of Beev Rations presents an intimate and thrilling rendition of an amazing ballad, called “Hot burrito #1 (I’m your toy)”. This song, composed by the legendary Gram Parsons and Chris Ethridge, was included in the first album of Flying Burrito Brothers, in 1969.

Now, Beev Rations bring a refreshing version* and however true to the spirit of the original. In a envolving, evocative and magic acustic/live atmosphere, Alan James delivers his captivating and velvety voice in this performance -simple and heartfelt- of a song with high emotional octane. Alan’s voice is well wrapped by the expressive and wild sound coming from warm and colourful rythm guitars, over the cadentious percussion.

Doing a sincere tribute to Gram and his beautiful music, Alan sings from the heart, straight to the audience soul. Furthermore, this song comes with a very special video that goes greatly with all the feeling of this touching -and hot- burrito, so…

Pump up the volume and enjoy!

Available for digital download and streaming in main distributors.

You may be sweet and nice

But that won’t keep you warm at night

Cause I’m the one who showed you how

to do the things you’re doing now

He may feel all your charms

He may hold you in his arms

But I’m the one who let you in

I was right beside you then

Once upon a time you let me feel you deep inside

And nobody knew, nobody saw

Do you remember the way you cried?

I’m your toy I’m your old boy

But I don’t want no-one but you

To love me no I wouldn’t lie

You know I’m that kind of guy

Hot burrito #1 (I’m your toy) – BEEV RATIONS’ Second Single. Premiere!

cover-picture-hot-burrito-1-beev-rations

Beev Rations’ new single:

“Hot burrito #1 (I’m your toy)”

Premiere with the official audio published in YouTube, SoundCloud and ReverbNation.

Pump up the volume and enjoy!

Full release will come in the coming weeks, with the publishing of the official video in YouTube. Also, this record will be available for digital download and streaming in all the main musical distributors websites!

“Dance with me (unreleased demo)”, a BEEV RATIONS’ fine surprise

dancewithme-video

BEEV RATIONS shares something special with you:

“Dance with me (unreleased demo)”

Before the new single coming, Beev Rations features the touching and delicate demo of a new original song, not released yet.

Inspired only a few days ago, “Dance with me” shows for the first time the sweeter side -tender and emotive- of Alan James as a singer and songwriter, through this basic and ambiental demo, wich is an initial -and promissing- brief draw of the song.

In an everlasting classic pop-rock style, always fresh and new, this ballad -almost a lullaby- can easily touch you inside and also bring some tear to your eyes… perhaps by its beauty, maybe by its melancholia, or even by both things!

Anyway, if you like this type of music, you’ll have an experience, for sure. Put your music player on “Repeat mode” and see…

Dance with me (unreleased demo)

Hey, if you wanna dance

if you wanna dance with me,

put your better clothes.

Don’t you know

it could be the last time?

Now I need your love,

please don’t hesitate.

For my love is true,

come to me.

For my love is true,

come to me.

WHAT’S THAT? – BEEV RATIONS’ First Single released!

caratula-single-whats-that

“What’s that?”, the debut single of Beev Rations, with two songs NOW AVALAIBLE

And the moment arrived. We already can enjoy new and different -and however classic- things in pop-rock music nowadays. It’s not easy (nor necessary) to put a certain label about it, even the “alternative” or “indie” one. Music is music always, and there are many ways for music to express itself.

One of them is what Beev Rations* brings to us with these two-rare-pearl of brief songs (both avalaible here and here), featured in their first single, well supported by two official videos (one per song), nice and funny presentations to go along with the songs and really feel them.

“What’s that?” is the one that gives title to this record. The style is eclectic, although with marked roots of blues, R&B, country and classic pop-rock, sounding nevertheless current by the particular treatment given to the song. The vocal style, with nuances “bluesy”, brings resonances of John Lennon. The lyrics tell about an incident beetween two lovers: “apparently, he asks her with curiosity about why she is with him, suggesting some possible reasons. As she never clarifies it, he finally asks her impatiently the cause of her reservation”. Some people, anyway, they seem to have heard other weird (and bold) things… 😀

Here the words:

What’s that?

What’s that make you to be with me?

Is it my faults or just my hands?

Maybe this rumbling tick you need.

Tell me why you have

to keep it always in your mouth,

to keep it always in your mouth,

to keep it always in your mouth.

Ohh yeah, keep it always, baby,

in your mou…aah…aah…

Alan James, the man behind BRs project

The B side, “The one I love”, is like a sweet tune from a little, naughty and loving sprite. Also features eclectic style, although the influence of the sixties classic pop-rock is mostly perceived. The Alan’s voice, edited at greater speed of the natural, resembles that of an elf who is talking with himself about how his new love could or should be. For the rest, an enthusiastic and magic ambient envolves the listenner through a delicate and touching “in crescendo”.

Lyrics:

The one I love

I’d like a girl to love me,

but not in the way she did to me.

At times we were fine,

at times she was blind,

but not in the way I like.

I want that girl who loves me,

just letting me be the way I feel.

Sometimes we shall laugh,

sometimes we’ll make love

and so life would be our dream.

When we finally meet

and share the love I have

-one that’s wide enough to her-,

then, I’m gonna hold

her close to my soul

and love her.

Beev Rations is an indie group, which music is deeply influenced by the sixties pop-rock sound, flourishing from the heart with the flavour of the Rock roots, in those juicy little pearls of brief songs, expresions of an own musical language.

Here comes the Sunshine – Beev Rations’ New Single, Premiere!

With the full release, in mid-May, you also will have it free in Bandcamp.

Here comes the Sunshine, The new single from Beev Rations, releases in May, 2018, also free-to-download in Bandcamp.

Here comes the Sunshine

(K. Mood – A. Amarante)

I trust in love
I see the leaves
I say your name
I feel the breeze.

We are going together
To share the day.
We are just friends
Our love is okay.

Here comes the sunshine
It makes me good.
I go out walking
In the big woods.

Travel in the mind,
in a aeroplane.
Stay by me always
In sunshine and rain.

My dreams are burning,
I am buying food
For our lovely picnic
In the big woods.

I drink the wine
I eat the food
I dream and smile
I am no fool

Here comes the sunshine
It makes me good.
I go out walking
In the big woods.
